We are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Cor. 5:20

Our Name

Chi Alpha is derived from the greek words "Christou apostoloi" which means "Christ’s ambassador."  We get our name from 2 Corinthians 5:20 where Paul calls us ambassadors for Christ. We are Christ's ambassadors and carry His message of salvation to our friends.

Our Vision

To make disciples who make disciples who live a life of Real Devotion, Real Community, and Real Responsibility.

Our Mission

We exist to give every college student in northern Iowa an opportunity to encounter the love of God and grow in relationship with Jesus and others.

Three Pillars of Chi Alpha

Real Devotion

We are fully committed to being intentionally intimate with Jesus through abiding daily.

  • Intentionality: Following Jesus doesn’t happen on accident. We must be intentional about spending time with Jesus and obeying his commandments.

Intimacy: Following Jesus is done through relationship. We must be intimate with Jesus to understand the heart of God and his desire for our personal holiness as we attempt to become like Jesus.

Abiding Daily: Following Jesus happens through spending daily time with him. We must abide with Jesus through daily, systematic scripture reading, cultivating a prayer life, and worshiping Jesus through praise and a holy lifestyle and only then will we bear fruit.

Real Community

We are fully committed to creating vulnerable fellowship.

  • Creating: Living in community requires intentional action. We must create community instead of just consuming it.

Vulnerability: Living in community requires being forthright, real, and honest with one another while holding one another accountable. We must be vulnerable instead of just transparent through confessing our sins to our community if we want to see freedom.

Fellowship: Living in community requires friendship, proximity, interpersonal relationships, and purpose. We must have fellowship to create welcoming friendships amongst the entire group.

Real Responsibility

We are fully committed to finding, feeding, and fighting for the lost lambs of God.

  • Finding: Discipleship happens through interacting with non-Jesus followers and inviting them first into relationship with us and then relationship with God.

Feeding: Discipleship happens through mentoring others to help them on their journey of becoming like Christ through teaching, accountability, and challenging. We will focus on heart transformation, not just behavior modification.

Fighting: Discipleship happens through not giving up on others and their futures with Christ. We care about people’s futures and we will love people enough to do whatever it takes to help them continue in relationship with Christ.
